Born and raised in the countryside of a little football town named Kannapolis North Carolina, 15 miles north of Charlotte NC, this New Year’s newborn knew his destiny was to reach people with the character and personality conveyed thru the art of singing. Starting at the young age of 4 years old, in a small family church, on an old dusty road in rural NC, this young man was influenced and polished as a young boy by his mother and god-mother to hone in on his singing skills, which they taught him that it was more than just singing , and that he had a gift and purpose. TR took that advice and henceforth grew into a powerful crooner with the soul & spirit of a leader, who understands communication via music and created a sound that may be a little different from what the ear is accustomed.
Gritty styles, smooth harmonies over thick robust tracks that just seep with southern soul, is the foundation of what and how TR defines himself more than just a singer, but as a crooner. Crooners or balladeer’s makes their connection with their base and audience thru an experience, which is more than just entertaining, it’s more than a lifestyle, its life itself.
Coming fresh off a 15 year hiatus, TR the artist is back to give and leave you with more of what he has presented before as he signed as a solo act after co-founding the 4 part soul group D.A.J.E’ & debuted on the independent label Next Level Ent with the LP “Feel This” circa 2003-2004, executive produced by company founder Aaron Simmons. Feel This garnered strong attention by local radio stations and presented the opportunity to share the stage with major artist such as Grammy winners John Legend, Floetry verified) & Lyfe Jennings, Silk and more. Those performances alone grabbed the attention of execs from Hidden Beach Records, Columbia, Interscope and many more labels as the LP Feel This was gaining major independent traction and steam in the surrounding area. After a successful stint with the label, TR went separate ways as creative differences arose and he was not enthused about the direction the management and label was headed. TR stepped away from the business, did major soul searching, married and began to raise a family.

Now after growth, maturity, knowledge and understanding has commenced TR is back for a brand-new LP titled "Blaq KANvas", with an ode to his hometown Kannapolis with the "KAN" in Kanvas. Paying homage to his influences such as Marvin Gaye, Lou Rawls, Otis Redding, Teddy Pendergrass, & Donnie Hathaway ,his harmonies, meaningful lyrics along with a signature sound that includes drums, tambourine's and smooth bass lines, this southern sound will keep you tuned in as the characters of each lyric come to life, and the "re" emergence of that old traditional sound along with a fresh lyrical rhyme pattern and cadence, TR Butler the artist wants to bridge the gap of young and old and share his life with the world.
